Coffee Cupping Meets Cocktails: Decaf After Dark (My First of Many)

For the last stretch, I’ve been a bit quiet at markets—not because I disappeared, but because I was deep into a remodeling project for my other business. In between the sawdust and coffee roasts, an idea kept warming in the back of my mind: an in-home, winter-friendly night that kicks off with a cozy decaf tasting and wraps up with tiny mystery cocktails that somehow feel like tradition the first time you try them.
Today, it’s finally ready. Coffee & Cocktails is my first of many new experiences I’m rolling out, and it’s perfect for the holidays. There’s even a Zero-Proof edition for anyone who loves the celebration without the buzz.
From Private Events to a Whole New Level
I’ve hosted private events before—intimate tastings, small group cuppings, and customized flights around a dining table. Those experiences taught me exactly what people love: clear guidance without the lecture, flavors that surprise without being fussy, and a pace that lets conversation bloom. Coffee & Cocktails takes all of that and builds the experience—from cupping to crafted minis—so the evening feels curated, seasonal, and just a little bit cinematic.
Picture This
It’s cold outside. Inside, the lights are low and welcoming. I arrive 30–60 minutes early, fold out what I need, and line up the gear that turns your space into a tiny traveling coffee bar—kettles, mini shakers, jiggers, strainers, spoons—then set out camping mugs for that fireside, gather-round feeling. There’s water on the table, and plenty of ice within reach. Friends drift in and settle into chairs around the space (no worries if you don’t have a big table—I can bring one).
We start with four decaf coffees—two hot and two chilled—poured into those camping mugs. A quick, friendly cupping: breathe in the aroma, sip, and sit with the finish. Someone laughs, “Wait… this is decaf?” Another leans in and catches something chocolatey they didn’t expect. The room gets curious.
Then we turn what you just tasted into mystery mini-cocktails. I don’t name them. I build them—measured, simple, and calm—so the coffee stays the star. A gentle shake, a quiet stir, a small pour into your mug. Sip. The first leans silky; the second bright; the third is soft and wintery; the fourth feels like a hug. And between each? Talking, comparing, water, another little pour. You start noticing how a coffee changes when it meets a touch of sweetness or texture, how the chilled ones open up differently than the hot ones, and how little it takes to make something feel like a special occasion.
We finish with a vote—which mini wins the night?—then I hand out recipe cards so you can recreate your favorite later. I tidy what I brought, you keep your evening rolling, and the memory settles in like the last log on the fire.
(Prefer no alcohol? The *Zero-Proof version keeps the same flow—tasting to tiny builds—swapping spirits for crafted alternatives so you get all the ritual, none of the buzz.

Why Coffee & Cocktails?
You might be wondering, why combine coffee and cocktails? Well, coffee is a versatile ingredient. It can be bold, smooth, or even fruity. When paired with the right spirits, it transforms into something magical. Imagine sipping a cocktail that has the warmth of your favorite brew, but with a twist. It’s like a cozy hug for your taste buds!
The Art of Decaf
Now, let’s talk about decaf. Many folks think decaf is just a shadow of regular coffee. But let me tell you, that’s a myth! Decaf can be rich, flavorful, and downright delightful. It’s all about the beans and the roasting process. I source only the best decaf beans, ensuring you get a full-bodied experience without the jitters.
Crafting the Perfect Cocktail
Creating cocktails is an art form. It’s about balancing flavors and textures. With my mini-cocktails, I focus on simplicity. Each drink highlights the coffee while adding a layer of complexity. You’ll learn how a dash of this or a splash of that can elevate your drink from ordinary to extraordinary.
The Experience of Togetherness
At the heart of Coffee & Cocktails is the experience of togetherness. It’s about gathering friends, sharing stories, and creating memories. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to forget the joy of simply being present with others. This event encourages conversation and connection, all while enjoying delicious drinks.
Final Thoughts
So, are you ready to dive into this unique experience? Whether you’re a coffee aficionado or just someone looking for a fun night in, Coffee & Cocktails has something for everyone. Let’s celebrate the season together, one sip at a time!
